Failure is not an option.
As a seasoned edupreneur, over the last 35 years, I have been part of several successful and unsuccessful education businesses. Here's what I learned.
Education businesses (school, HEI, or a company) must be people-centric and not product-centric. The strength and success come from the communities we serve. The key to success is attracting the consumer and not pushing the product. This makes patience the most critical value of an edupreneur. The success curve is S-shaped and not exponential.
The three reasons for failure for education businesses are lack of:
- Relevancy (too late or ahead of time, not aligned to needs),
- Reliability (not deliver consistently on the promise), or
- Reputability (customers are not advocates).
